Fashion month is over, but it is still a trending topic. The fashion industry analyzed the performances of fashion shows, and Launchmetrics in particular released a report about Fall/Winter 2023 Fashion Week performances. The report was released on Tuesday, providing media impact value (MIV) figures - an algorithm that measures the impact of media placements to derive a number for performance outcomes.
According to Launchmetrics, New York, London, Milan, and Paris fashion weeks generated a total of $731 million in MIV, which represents a 24% increase since the Fall/Winter 2022 season. All 4 capitals leaned into celebrities from the Asia Pacific region, who highly contributed to the visibility of the brands, accounting for $140 million of the total MIV.
These are the top-performing Fall/Winter shows:
Paris Fashion Week overall MIV: $285 million.
1st place: Dior. $42 million in MIV. Blackpink member Jisoo (Ji-soo Kim), brought in 23% of Dior’s overall MIV.
2nd place: Chanel. £25.8 million in MIV. Blackpink member Jennie and actor Park Seo-joon accounted for 27% of Chanel’s total MIV.
3d place: Louis Vuitton. $25.5 million in MIV. According to Launchmetrics, 5 of the top posts from the brand were thanks to Deepika Padukone, Sakura Miyawaki, Rayssa Leal, and Urassaya Sperbund, aka Yaya.
Milan Fashion Week overall MIV: $207 million
1st place: Prada. 29.5 million in MIV. Half of the top 10 posts were made by South Korean celebrities Jaehyun, Song Kang, Twice, and Ennik Somi Douma.
2nd place: Gucci. $29 million in MIV. Media channels generated 52% of that, versus 14% from influencers.
3d place: Fendi. $15 million in MIV.
New York Fashion Week overall MIV: $172.3 million
1st place: Michael Kors. $17.7 million.
Thom Browne’s MIV alone accounts for $11.4 million mostly thanks to NCT, Lil Nas X, and Queen Latifah.
London Fashion Week overall MIV: $66.8 million
1st place: Burberry (MIV unknown)
2nd place: Moncler. $6.8 million in MIV.
3d place: Richard Quinn. $3.7 million in MIV.
