The Lyst Index officially announced Fashion’s Hottest Brands and Products Q2 2022
But what does this mean? Every quarter of the year The Lyst Index produces a quarterly ranking of fashion’s hottest brands and products.
Lyst is a fashion technology company and premium fashion shopping app, used by over 200 million people each year to browse the latest fashion products.
The Lyst Index takes into account Lyst shopper's behavior from popular searches on and off the platform, product views and sales, and also social media mentions, activity, and engagement statistics worldwide. With the rise of social media power as a platform, it is no wonder the Lyst official Index now has to take into consideration tracking brand heat on social platforms.
All research is done over a three-month period to analyze the quarter of the year.
Here is a list of the top 20:
Gucci overtook Balenciaga, competing for spots 1 and 2 again, it seems the tables have turned.
With Gucci at spot one after presenting their “Cosmogonie” Resort ‘23 and unveiling their HA HA HA collection in collaboration with Harry Styles, while also dropping the well-anticipated Adidas X Gucci. Are collaborations the latest way to gain the most consumer attention?
Balenciaga drop down to second, after releasing their second drop of Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga and 100 pairs of “extra destroyed” sneakers. Fuelling exclusivity and excitement with innovation in the fashion industry.
Prada took third place rising one since last year, as Valentino forth and Louis Vuitton fifth dropping from third in 2021. Dior remains in sixth as Miu Miu rises from 10 to 7, following their campaign with beloved TV sweetheart Sydney Sweeny and collaborating with producer Baz Luhrmann to create costumes for the anticipated film “Elvis”.
Fendi came in at number 8, with Diesel rising from 15 to 8 this year after being worn by Kylie Jenner, Dua Lipa and Julia Fox. Burberry came in at number 10, rising two spots from last year after dressing Nicki Minaj, Bella Hadid, Naomi Campbell and more for the Met Gala. Maybe celebrity popularity is the key?
Versace are at number 11, while sports powerhouses Nike and Adidas come in at 12 and 13 following their dive into collaborating with luxury fashion houses. Loewe are at number 14, while Dolce and Gabbana is at 15 climbing 7 whole places after spiking 114% in searches following the Barker Kardashian wedding.
The list ends with Saint Laurent at 16 after launching their own podcast, Bottega Veneta at 17, Moncler at 18, and Off-White at 19. Finally finishing with Jacquemus at 20, who finally made the list following their pop-up experience in Selfridges and their SS 2023 show sporting their Nike collab. Clearly immersive and personal experiences are something memorable for the consumers, and brands need to remember.
Gucci and Balenciaga have continued to dominate the list for 5 years now since 2017 and the Lyst outcomes show that collaboration culture is thriving and not going anywhere anytime soon.
Hottest women’s products included the Deisel 1DR bag, as demand jumped 317% in June following the resurgence of the Y2K trend. With vintage Jean Paul Gualtier on the rise and celebs wearing the archives left, right, and centre the Jean Paul Gaultier x Lotta Volkova ‘naked’ dress from SS96 takes third place for hottest products. As searches for naked’ fashion pieces jumped 430% over the last three months.
