Prada Group reports revenue growth in Q1 2025
Source: Business of Fashion
Two weeks after announcing the acquisition of Versace, Prada Group is making headlines again, reporting a 13% revenue growth. The company’s revenues rose to €1.34 billion ($1.52 billion) compared with €1.19 billion in the first quarter last year.
This is a big win in the volatile economy and a rocky luxury market. The Italian conglomerate outperformed the two biggest French luxury groups, LVMH and Kering, where first-quarter fashion sales fell 5% and 14%, respectively.
So what are the key drivers of Prada's outperformance?
For one, it’s Miu Miu's exceptional growth.
Prada's subsidiary brand experienced a remarkable 60% surge in retail sales, significantly contributing to the group's overall revenue of €1.34 billion—a 12.5% increase at constant exchange rates. This growth offset the flat sales of the main Prada brand (€827 million vs €826 million last year), highlighting Miu Miu's pivotal role in the group's success.
Second, Prada Group has achieved a broad-based regional expansion, including a 10% increase in both the Asia-Pacific and Americas markets. This widespread growth is particularly noteworthy given the broader luxury sector's challenges in these regions.
And if the strategic acquisition of Versace, set to finalize in the second half of the year, results fruitfully, Prada Group could experience further growth and diversification in the luxury market, one that could rival LVMH and Kering, as we analyzed in this article.
However, industry insiders remain cautious, as Versace’s acquisition represents a risky move by “adding a loss-making brand to the group’s stable in a rocky market for fashion,” BoF comments.
