Last weekend, Sept 21-22 we hosted our first-ever fashion exhibition in Milan: A Glam Observer’s Unique Immersive Experience to Discover the Behind the Scenes of Fashion Careers and we couldn’t be happier!
The exhibition was born from a simple yet powerful idea: to break the barriers between the elusive fashion world and those aspiring to be part of it. Hosted during the vibrant Milan Fashion Week, the Glam Observer event welcomed fashion students, enthusiasts, and aspiring professionals for an inspirational tour around fashion offices and warming fashion conversations.

Inside the rooms, our participants were able to discover behind-the-scenes of fashion careers and visualize themselves as fashion designers, editors, stylists, buyers, PR, and marketing professionals. Whether they already came with a role in mind or were undecided about which career to pursue, many shared that the exhibition gave them more clarity and confidence to make their fashion career dream-plan possible! Furthermore, the visitors got access to insightful career tips and free resources to expand their knowledge about the industry.
By the end of the exhibition, the visitors pinned their dream role and company on a fashion career mood board and collected nice surprises and goodies we prepared for them as a memory of the event. One of the most special highlights was meeting in person the incredible students from my Glam Observer Fashion Academy 🥹 After watching their journeys from afar, it was a joy to connect face-to-face, hear their stories, and witness their excitement firsthand.
A note to every fashion enthusiast out there: Your fashion dream is closer than you think. Keep pushing, keep learning, and never forget: the journey may be challenging, but it is always worth it. 💖
What happened in the industry this week? 💚
PFW Highlights
Saint Laurent is always one of my favorites at PFW. This season, Anthony Vaccarello dedicated a full collection to Yves Saint Laurent’s style, revisiting the most iconic pieces from the founder’s wardrobe - think the iconic tuxedo, ties, wide pants, and big eyeglasses. So it was a 100% Saint Laurent for Yves Saint Laurent show. We loved Bella Hadid’s look, who returned to the runway after a two-year hiatus. Welcome back 🖤
The creative director named each of the 49 looks after the models - friends of the house like Dovima, Bettina, and Iman, and also Betty (Catroux) and Carla (Bruni) who were at the front row that night. The location was also interesting. Instead of taking the Eiffel Tower, Anthony Vaccarello preferred to show at the house’s Left Bank headquarters at Rue de Bellechasse, which is symbolic because that’s where he staged his debut show in 2016.
Our other favorite is Balmain where beauty met fashion on the runway. The first looks seemed like wearable makeup, with realistic faces, lipsticks, and nails 💄💅🏻
Another highlight of Paris Fashion Week was Ganni, which staged its first show in the city, the usual location being Copenhagen.
Dries Van Noten’s studio team presented their first women's collection since the designer exited his eponymous brand in March.
L’Oréal Paris also staged a runway. The beauty brand hosted the spring 2025 show on Monday in front of the Palais Garnier Opera House. The runway came in 6 acts, each highlighting a different power of beauty. More than 40 designers participated, each creating looks especially for the event, including Mugler, which opened and closed the show, Elie Saab, Patou, and Pierre Cardin, among others. 32 l’Oréal ambassadors walked down the runway, including the one and only Eva Longoria.
The show(s) will go on in Paris until Oct.1, so there is still a lot to see. We are looking forward to Alessandro Michele’s official debut at Valentino, so we are setting up the alarm for 3 PM (CEST)⏰You can check the full PFW schedule here so you don’t miss your favorite shows.
Alberta Ferretti is leaving her eponymous brand
The legendary Italian fashion designer decided to step down from her brand, founded in 1981, joining the ranks of Tom Ford, Christopher Kane, and Dries Van Noten who also left their companies quite recently. It’s sad but we understand the need to move on and search for new creative paths. Ferretti’s show on Sept. 17 in Milan was thus her last, and she will announce the new creative director soon, according to a letter she shared with the press.
JPG’s next guest designer revealed
Jean-Paul Gaultier named its next guest designer: It’s Ludovic de Saint Sernin. Presenting in January 2025, it will be his first couture collection. The show will also mark the Maison’s first guest-designed collection to feature menswear.
Zara x Stefano Pilati
Zara unveiled a capsule collection designed in collaboration with Stefano Pilati - the first collection under his own name. The campaign was shot by Steven Meisel and stars Giselle Bündchen. So chic! The capsule will arrive in stores next Thursday, October 3. The price tag? From $17.90 to $399.
What’s the most expensive bag in the world?
You might think it’s Chanel 2.55 or the Hermès Birkin, but the credit of the most expensive bag in the world goes to🥁Rabanne.
The brand presented the accessory at the Spring 2025 show on Wednesday as a tribute to the world's "most expensive dress," in gold and diamonds, designed by Paco Rabanne for Françoise Hardy in 1968.
So what’s the worth of the world’s most expensive bag? According to WWD, The Handcrafted 1969 Golden Bag, shown on the recent runway, required 100 hours of work by the brand and French artisan jeweler Arthus Bertrand and will be priced at 250,000 euros. Additionally, the Maison introduced two other bags - The Handcrafted 1969 Glass Bag, made from Murano glass, and The Handcrafted 1969 Ceramic Bag, made of ceramic discs.
Telfar is launching its first leather bag
Another news - another bag. Telfar recently announced the launch of its first leather bag - “The Carry”, which is similar in design to the brand’s signature vegan tote. It will be available in three sizes — small ($400), medium ($600) and large ($960). The brand said The Carry “isn’t made for Instagram”, meaning it will be available IRL only, exclusively sold at a new Telfar concept shop inside Selfridges' The Corner Shop in London, from Sept. 30 to Nov. 2. So all the fashionistas will have to make an effort to obtain the new coveted bag. In addition, Telfar is dropping a 20-piece leather capsule collection designed in collaboration with Wilson's Leather.
Inside the Dream: Mugler
Mugler released a one-hour documentary to celebrate the house’s 50th anniversary. Inside the Dream: Mugler is a love letter to the late founder Manfred Thierry Mugler, exploring his iconic creations and memorable moments of his career. The documentary is now streaming exclusively in France on Canal+ and will become available on Prime Video and other global platforms soon after.
Fashion Career Tip
I usually like in this section to give you practical tips to break into fashion. But despite the cover letter, Excel, and other skills and strategies are super important, the key to landing your dream job in fashion is also having confidence in yourself 💖 As we closed the curtain on our first fashion exhibition in Milan, I feel inspired to give you an extra dose of motivation to write your next fashion story.
Around 10 years ago, I was an industry outsider like many of you. Questions like "Am I enough?" and "Will I make it?" kept coming back into my mind. I wondered if I had what it takes to break into such a competitive industry. This nagging voice in your head is something we all face at some point, especially when stepping into something new and unknown. But here’s the truth: You absolutely are enough.
Every successful person in fashion, whether they are a designer, stylist, or editor - even Anna Wintour, Anthony Vaccarello, and other successful professionals alike - started exactly where you are right now. They weren’t born with all the answers or an unshakable confidence. They had doubts, fears, and moments of uncertainty. What sets them apart isn’t some secret formula or innate talent; it’s the decision they made to believe in themselves, to trust that they have something valuable to offer.
And so do you. You have a unique perspective, a vision that no one else can replicate. The fashion world is always evolving, always on the lookout for fresh ideas and new voices. What if that new voice is yours? What if the next big trend or groundbreaking idea is waiting inside you, ready to be unleashed?
Self-doubt will always try to hold you back, but it doesn’t have to. The moment you choose to believe in your potential, everything changes. You’ll find that the steps ahead become clearer, the opportunities more visible, and the challenges less daunting. Doors will start to open—not just because you’re lucky, but because you’ve decided to step forward with courage and determination.
You have what it takes to make it in this industry. The fashion world is vast and varied, with many companies and departments making room for everyone who’s willing to put in the work, learn, and grow. So next time that voice of doubt creeps in, remember this: You belong here, and you’re more than capable of achieving your dreams. Believe it and the world will too.
