Our hearts and thoughts are with all people suffering from these tragic events.
Chemena Kamali is the new creative director of Chloé
She succeeds Gabriel Hearst who recently left the French house, and will unveil her debut pre-fall collection next January.
Kamali is not new to Chloé, as it’s there that she began her career under Phoebe Philo’s leadership in 2007, after graduating from Central Saint Martins. She rejoined the house in 2013 as design director under Waight Keller until 2016, before joining Saint Laurent’s as women’s ready-to-wear design director under Anthony Vaccarello. She has also worked at Alberta Ferretti and Strenesse.
Louis Vuitton to stage first men’s physical runway show in Hong Kong

LVMH sales growth is slowing
The luxury group reported on Tuesday a smaller-than-expected 9% rise in third-quarter revenue, reaching the lowest level since December 2022. The shares have come under pressure due to inflation in Europe and the United States, and China’s slow post-pandemic recovery. For the fashion and leather goods sector, LVMH recorded organic revenue growth of 16% in the first nine months of 2023 compared with the same period in 2022, representing a total revenue of 30 912 million of euros.
What’s new in sustainability 🌱
H$M Foundation and HKRITA created a new leather recycling technology
H&M Foundation and the Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA) partnered on a research project “ReProLeather”, creating an alternative binder to synthetic leather in the recycled leather process. According to WWD, the new leather recycling technology “separates the chromium VI (toxins that come from chrome tanning) from the shredded leather fibers to create a new bio-based alternative to traditional PU and PVC binders. The free chromium is transformed into a soluble salt, and the separated leather fibers react with binders such as sugar or protein under mild conditions and combine with raw collagen fibers to form a new leather.”
