Tapestry is no longer acquiring Capri
It’s official: The U.S Court blocked Tapestry’s $8.5 billion acquisition of Capri after an eight-day trial held last month. The deal was set to put Capri’s Michael Kors, Versace, and Jimmy Choo together with Tapestry’s Coach, Kate Spade, and Stuart Weitzman.
According to the Business of Fashion, the Federal Trade Commission argued that “the merger would eliminate fierce head-to-head competition between the top two US handbag makers and create a massive company with the power to unfairly raise prices for consumers.” Some industry experts say that the end of this merger has weakened the possibility of creating an American LVMH or Kering.

Fashion Career Tip
Are you wondering which career in fashion is made for you? Or do you want to learn what it’s like working as a fashion buyer, stylist, PR…?
While there are many resources to learn about fashion careers (such as our Glam Observer,) what better way than speaking to those who already got your dream job?
One of my favorite strategies, which many people don’t know about, is the informational interview. It’s the perfect tool to broaden your research about fashion careers, maximize your chances of getting a job you love, and leverage your connections with industry professionals.
If you’ve never heard of the informational interview or have never used this strategy before, I explain what it is and why it is useful for your career in fashion in my latest article available here.
