Louis Vuitton launched fine jewelry for men
The French luxury house is expanding into fine jewelry with a new offering for men, although it will be a unisex line. The 18-piece collection titled “Les Gastons Vuitton” pays homage to the founder’s grandson Gaston-Louis Vuitton. Francesca Amfitheatrof, artistic director watches and jewelry at Louis Vuitton, studied his personality traits and described him as someone who was interested in design, architecture, drawings, and different cultures, according to WWD. “I found it interesting because Gaston is really similar to men today, who are in touch with their inner selves, don’t need to be macho, are interested in the arts, collecting, cooking — things that wouldn’t have been considered appropriate 20 or 30 years ago,” she said to WWD.
Saint Laurent x Borsalino
The French luxury brand and the Italian hatmaker Borsalino teamed up on a hat capsule collection for fall/winter 2024, which is exclusively available in both concept Saint Laurent Rive Droite Paris and Los Angeles stores, as well on the Yves Saint Laurent e-commerce platform.
Givenchy x Disney
Givenchy and Disney launched a children’s collection dedicated to Frozen, as the popular animated movie is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The line is composed of seven pieces inspired by the characters of Elsa and Olaf, designed in a black, white and blue palette.
Frédéric Arnault was appointed CEO of LVMH Watches
In this newly created role effective since January 1, the son of LVMH chairman and CEO Bernard Arnault will be in charge of overseeing the watch maisons Hublot, Zenith, and Tag Heuer, which he joined in 2017 and became CEO in 2020
LVMH and TikTok discuss how to counter product counterfeit
The luxury conglomerate is reportedly engaged in talks with TikTok and its parent company, ByteDance Ltd., to deal with the issue of counterfeit products advertised on TikTok, as the global marketplace is expanding on that social media platform.
A 13-year-old boy landed an internship at Louis Vuitton
Yes you read that right! A mother shared her 13-year-old son Milan’s sketches of a “Louis Vuitton collection” on X (previously known as Twitter), which catched the attention of French journalist Marie Gentric. The latter showed the boy’s sketches to Louis Vuitton, and the brand offered him a week-long observational internship.
This inspiring story is another proof that securing an internship in fashion is possible if you have no experience, and that showing your skills is always better than merely telling them on your resume.
How AI is changing the recruiting process in the fashion industry
The Business of Fashion has recently published an article about how AI is changing the recruiting process in the fashion industry, which might be interesting for you to know about if you aspire to get a job in fashion.Fashion and beauty brands are exploring artificial intelligence (AI) to support their recruitment processes. AI is employed to address traditional challenges such as sifting through numerous resumes and crafting job postings, offering a potential solution to minimize biases in the hiring process. Despite being in the early stages, these tools aim to enhance recruitment efficiency and broaden the criteria for assessing candidates. However, concerns about biases in AI and the importance of human intervention to correct these shortcomings persist. The hope is that AI will streamline routine tasks, allowing HR professionals to focus on more strategic assignments like talent development and onboarding.
Vogue Italia launched a film festival
On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Vogue Italia, the magazine is launching its first film festival called “Nouvelle Vogue” dedicated to fashion. With one movie per month, from January to December, the goal is “to show the profound sense of fashion in cinema, between style, costumes and photography, starting from the Sixties in which Vogue arrived in Italy becoming, in turn, synonymous with revolutionary attitude,” according to Vogue Italia. The first film Blow Up by Michelangelo Antonioni will be screened on January 19th at the Cinema Modernissimo in Bologna.
