Have you been looking forward to reading more about fashion history? We hope so, because today, we continue our history of fashion series with a new decade: the 1930s. Here is what you need to know about it.

In the 1930s, women’s fashion softly transitioned from the boyish look of the previous decade into the feminine silhouette but kept the simplicity in cut and design of the 1920s.

The first main trend was the bias cut, a technique that allows the fabric to drape over the body by cutting it 45 degrees against the weave to create a fluid, body-skimming garment - not too tight nor too baggy. This type of cut was predominantly used in eveningwear and was popularized by designer Madeleine Vionnet.
