Did you know that Christian Dior and Cristóbal Balenciaga were born on the same day?
On January 21st, two grand couturiers were born: Christian Dior and Cristóbal Balenciaga. Each of them made an enormous contribution to fashion, and we cannot imagine how this industry would be without them.
The early 50s brought Dior and Balenciaga as the leaders of Paris couture. However, the way they revolutionized women’s fashion is radically different, which we can say with the example of their two iconic pieces - Dior’s New Look and Balenciaga’s Sack dress. Despite the fact that Dior is younger than Balenciaga (the latter was born in 1895 and Dior in 1905), the Dior New Look came before Balenciaga's one.
