Day 1 Of Your Fashion Job: What Happens
365 days of fashion: the e-ncyclopedia of fashion

My first day at my very first fashion internship was 7 years ago but I still remember it clearly.
I was excited to finally start working in the industry of my dreams, yet nervous at the same time as I didn’t know what to expect. My working day started at 9 am but as I did for my entire time working there, I arrived earlier around 8:30 am. Arriving earlier was a way for me to get ready for the day and be at my desk before my boss so I could organize my daily to-do list.
If you have been following me for a while you know I started as an intern in the e-commerce department at Alexander McQueen. The e-commerce of the brand was at that time managed by Yoox-Net-A-Porter which now still manages the e-commerce of brands such as Armani, Chloé, Alaia, Cartier, etc.
I was working in the Milan offices, in the same room with the ecommerce managers of other Kering brands (YSL, Balenciaga, Brioni…). Needless to say that it was a super inspiring environment and experience as I was working for 3 top companies of the industry at the same time - Kering, Alexander McQueen and Yoox-Net-a-Porter. I therefore met and worked with people and departments of all the 3 companies at the same time. I was in touch daily with the Alexander McQueen team in London, the Bologna team of Yoox-Net-A-Porter that was managing all the ecommerce operations and I was in the Milan offices with all the other Kering ecommerce managers. I have to admit that I had a great first start in the fashion industry.
If you were wondering what your first day at your first fashion internship or job will look like, I’m sharing what happened to me so you know what you could expect. In fashion, there are many roles and so many different companies so my first day could not be exactly the same as yours but more or less you can expect these things.
